AC Shadows Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season

In a surprising crossover event that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.

The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Material

Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana alongside numerous items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-based costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa outfit for Naoe
  • Special arms
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
